Faxes from the Future (1:02): We got sent some faxes, and they say they’re from Future Dwight. We try to get to the bottom of what they all mean. This is our spoiler-free speculation segment about what’s to come in the few remaining episodes of Season Four.

Email Surveillance (20:29): Our listeners chime in about Pam’s conversation with her mom in “Casino Night,” the fact that Kevin is a poker champion in his own mind, and the threat of Jim and Jan and the Very Bad Place.

Thanks for letting us know that there’s a problem with this episode on iTunes, Rosa! We’ll take a look this evening; unfortunately we’re all at work right now so we can’t take a look at it until then

I was thinking about the spinoff, and the thought that occurred to me, is that it will be either about the warehouse (which I’m not particularly interested in) or maybe (and I realize this could be construed as sucking up to Melody, but that’s alright, because maybe it is)…

    The Office: Utica.

    Whaddya think?

The Office spin-off is a bad idea. Are they going to do is mockumentary-style too?

If it’s true we are going to get at least 28 episodes next year do you all think the writers, as great as they are can keep things funny and fresh into a 6th or even 7th season?

Looking forward to your ‘cast on the new show!

It’s not on itunes on my laptop!!!

Kelly, try unsubscribing and resubscribing to us in iTunes. I’ve had to do that with other podcasts before when a new episode just wouldn’t show up no matter how many times I clicked on “Update Podcast”. :) Resubscribing usually fixed it.

It’s still not showing up on my itunes! I’ve tried everything!

    Et tu, itunes?

We’re really not sure why it has chosen to hate on us this week.

After Sarah did the final fix, it did show up in my itunes and start downloading after I clicked “Update Podcast.” Another possible way to access it might be to go to the itunes store, search for the The Office Alliance, go to our itunes page, and see if the episode is in the list of episodes there.

I’m so sorry it’s so screwy this week, guys!

Also, Mike, as much as I applaud the suggestion of a Utica branch, I’m not sure I trust them to do Karen’s awesomeness justice. That’s a whole lot of awesome…

Stupid iTunes! I was wondering where you ladies had gone. Well, I will just have to download it directly from her when I get home. I’m definitely going to need my OA fix before tonight’s episode.

Thanks, Brian, for wanting to seek us out despite the iTunes debacle! This is where the show gets posted first, and then iTunes picks it up a little bit later. So if it’s Tuesday, and you don’t see us in iTunes yet, come over here to see if we’ve updated. We also post here if the show will be delayed at all.

Hey, can I ask a silly question?

Every now and then on the podcast, there’s all sorts of background noises, which is fine, I don’t mind that. I can understand the mouse clicking, and occasional keyboard tapping and whatnot, but what confuses me, is that every now and then, there’s a sound as of a baby rattle rattling. That’s about the closest I can describe it.

What, exactly is that noise? I don’t mind it, just curious.

I just wanted to wish everyone a happy Office return day! I listened to the podcast on my way home today and when I got there my “that’s what she said” tshirt had arrived! My friends are coming over to watch it so I better get ready! This is a great day!

  13. on 10 Apr 2008 at 7:05 pm 13.melody said …

Mike, I knew someone was going to ask that question eventually!

That noise is the sound of my dog shaking and rattling the tags on his collar around. He’s old and clingy and likes to be with me at all times, so there’s no kicking him out. He stays pretty quiet, but when the time comes to shake, he goes for it.

Between the birds in my window and my cranky dog and the mysterious white noise that has to be taken out of my tracks every week (to say nothing of the constant singing and the subconscious need to repeat things that other people have already said), I am one noisy lady.

I actually look forward to your singing, to be honest. It’s one of the more amusing things I like about your podcast. It’s like hearing Adam Felber going off on some ridiculously hilarious tangent on “Wait Wait, Don’t Tell Me.”

    Obscure reference, I know.

Anyway, thanks, Melody! You’re an absolute angel!

I am actually optimistic about the Office spinoff. I think more Office goodness is not a bad thing. I have faith in some of the writing staff moving to the new show and creating a spinoff we’ll be happy with. I want to believe.

My prediction and wish is for Andy Bernard to transfer to Dunder Mifflin in NYC and join Ryan in some corporate shenanigans. Then after the Office ends, maybe one or two Scrantones can move there too.

Mike, comparing me to a public radio show is ALWAYS wins you bonus points. I love Wait Wait, Don’t Tell Me. It’s on my list of favorites along with A Prairie Home Companion, Radiolab, and of course the religious experience that is This American Life.

And Gus, you get bonus points for referencing The X-Files, another one of my great television loves. I have heard a lot of people speculating that Andy will be the one to get the spin-off. I can see how it makes sense. Ed Helms was certainly a star in his own right prior to The Office, and that character has developed quite a following. I like Ed Helms so much that if he were starring in it, I might just give the show a try. (Of course, I didn’t get through an entire episode of Unhitched, and my love for Rashida Jones isn’t exactly subdued.)

Ah, Melody. I (heart) you. Prairie Home Companion is one of my favorite shows. You simply cannot beat the splendor that is a well done Be-Bop-A-Re-Bop Rhubarb Pie commercial.

Feel free to sing all you want.

Or go off on ridiculously hilarious tangents. I appreciate both.

Looking forward to the new ‘cast!

When i heard that there was a spinoff for the office i wanted to do as kelly and shove pizza in my tvs face. it is a BAD idea. seriously writers we supported you during the strike, god forbid you get get creative. if we fans want a spin-off we can just go read fanfiction. so yeah. by the way what was with the random bird noises during the podcast?
