I'm glad Jim didn't propose. He told Pam "it will knock you on your ass, Beesley." Would a proposal in a lawn chair at a DM party really have been a knocked ass moment? NO.

This was a kick ass podcast this week. And I listened to the Trivia War and was very impressed. I've seen every episode 2-5 times and I didn't do half as well playing along. You girls rock!

I think that the writers knew we were all expecting a proposal.

Instead, they made Andy propose so that we would see how "lame" and ordinary it would have been for Jim to do it. So not a Jim and Pam moment!

Also, they used the finale to move forward Michael and Dwight. Michael did change during this episode. He was being very cautious with what he said, in front of Holly anyway. And they set up a very nice cliffhanger with the Angela and Dwight storyline.

I guess that Holly is going to make Michael behave more like a grown man, which would be interesting to watch.

And Dwight, well, I have no ideas there...

Finally, the way I imagine, Jim is going to propose very casually, and when we are not expecting at all. Jim and Pam are eating in the break room and when Pam is holding the fork in mid air, with her mouth open, Jim is going to hold the ring in front of her and not say anything. And only they would be there, so that no one else in the office knows about it. Jim and Pam is going to happen, don't worry about it.

--
PS: my favourite moments were all non spoken moments. Like the look Michael gives the camera when he is sitting on the floor and Toby says they have to do the exit interview.

I look at the proposal debacle in this simple way: What possible motivation would Greg Daniels and Co. have for misleading us about a proposal only to have it happen off-screen over the summer? It is really difficult for me to see them sitting around in the writers room saying "We know we have millions of fans invested in this proposal plot. So let's do this. Let's NOT have Jim propose in the finale. We can call the writers of Friends for roadblock ideas. Then we will just get them engaged over the summer so we can cause the fans a good amount of angst with ultimately no payoff."

I think the simple explanation is that the writers chose to not have Jim propose to start a new angst-filled storyline for us to wade through in S5. Otherwise there would have been no real reason not to have Jim and Pam together at the end going into the fall.

Hi there-
I missed the other two gals ... I really like listening to the ladies perspective on the show. I did like the addition of KP and I think you guys should consider having a special guest guy star once in awhile even if all three of you are there

Continuity error or sign of Jan's psychosis?

"The Client": Jan says she got divorced because she wanted kids, Gould didn't, and so they got divorced

"Dinner Party": Jan does not want kids ...

hmmmm....

I just ordered a sweet Dwight Schrute for President shirt from www.PantherTees.com. They have tons of stuff from The Office. They said not to tell anyone, but here is a 10% discount code, “pts10“ (it’s case sensitive, so copy and paste it). Enjoy!

I really enjoyed the first 45 minutes of the hour finale, but it didn't leave me as satisfied as I was hoping. Still very happy with how everything turned out, and can't wait for some Office webisodes! Also, can't wait for your analysis!

oh ps my prediction for jim and pam is still that there will be a job opportunity in philly or new york that will wreck their future plans (aka engagement) i really cant see jim just proposing and that be the only jam event happening in the HOUR long finale

I need to go back and check to see if this would even make sense, but when Pam was looking for her art hanging up, I thought it was a reference to in season 3 when she won an art contest and it was going to be hung up in a local school. Thoughts?

Also I was waiting the whole episode for something between Dwight and Angela! I thought it would be subtle but still maybe one of Angela's hidden smiles or an accidental touch. But I agree it will come up in the finale.

I am so excited for the finale tonight!!! Who do you think is leaving?!?

I keep going back and forth, Craig. Part of me thinks, "They're perfect for each other! How could this not happen?!" And then the other part of me has this feeling of impending doom. (DOOOOM!)

I think I need to tell myself that it's going to end sadly and tragically - or even just left hanging. Defensive pessimism. And then if it ends all happy with bunnies and rainbows and rooftop picnics, I can just feel delighted and relieved!

Ladies, thanks for putting this all together for us, week after week. You work really hard and it definitely shows.

My suggestion? Take a few writers at a time and devote a show to their work. You could also do the same for Randall-filmed vs non-Randall-filmed episodes. And you could also do the same for directors. I know you've done it before, but I think you only devoted one show to this concept. Now that we have another season's worth of episodes, there's probably a bit more material to work with.
